Mahanama Hayat-e-Nau — Issue & Serial Architecture Model
1. Context & Architectural Problem
In legacy WordPress, Mahanama Hayat-e-Nau never utilized a dedicated Custom Post Type for issues. Instead, issues were represented through a loose arrangement of:
- Hierarchical Taxonomy: WordPress Categories representing publication years (e.g.
2023,2022,2015,1978). - Annual Index Posts (جملہ شمارے): Long container posts listing monthly download links for that specific year.
- Single-Issue Stubs: Occasional standalone posts containing only a PDF embed.
This document establishes the formal canonical Issue Schema for the Astro platform.
2. Canonical Issue Field Specifications
2.1 Volume (Jild / جلد)
- Definition: Represents the annual publishing cycle of Hayat-e-Nau.
- Base Volume: Volume 1 (
جلد 1) corresponds to the founding year 1978. - Formula:
volumeNumber = publicationYear - 1977(e.g., 2026 corresponds to Jild 47; 2023 corresponds to Jild 45). - Display Format:

2.2 Issue Number (Shumara / شمارہ)
- Definition: The specific issue within a publishing year.
